Elizabethtown, Kentucky formerly of Sellersburg, Indiana

Jimmie E. Sanders, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home.  He served his country honorably in the United States Army, a lifetime member of the Sellersburg American Legion Post #204 and a 1957 graduate of Silver Creek High School.  Jimmie was a mechanic, former truck driver and raced Nascar from 1971-1975 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Myrtle Sanders and a sister, Norma Joyce Puckett.  Surviving are a son, Jimmie (Rosemary) Sanders, Memphis, Indiana, daughters, Lori (Dean) Vincent, Milltown, Indiana, Kathy Sanders, Arkansas, sister, Janice Bary, Georgia, grandchildren, James Stice, Jimmie Vincent, Kevin Sanders, Beth Stice, Jenna Sanders,  Nolan Sanders and eight great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 2PM Saturday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Forrest Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 4-8PM and anytime after 12Noon until the time of service on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Online condolences can be made at www.garrfuneralservices.com.
