Freida Kathleen (Standiford) Stricker

Sellersburg, Indiana

Freida Kathleen Stricker, 87, died peacefully October 15, 2019 at Maple Manor Christian Home, Sellersburg, IN.  She was born February 27, 1932 in Borden, IN.  A hard worker her entire life, Freida was employed over the years at various places, including Indiana Army Ammunition and Silver Creek High School Cafeteria.  After raising her family and the passing of her husband, she set her sights on attending college as an adult learner.  Freida earned her degree at Ivy Tech, then proceeded into administrative assistant roles at the Kentucky Poison Center, and Norton Hospital.  Freida was an avid seamstress and wonderful cook.  When not spending time with her grandchildren, she lovingly made quilts, cookies and cakes for her family and friends.  She proudly called the Sellersburg Church of Christ her inspiration as a member for over 70 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett “Bud” Stricker, son, Larry Stricker, grandson, Benjamin Michael, brothers, Junior, Morton, Noah, Norman and sister, Bernice.  Survivors include daughters, Rita (Bob) Hake, Shirley (Wayne) Wells, Kathy Stricker, son, Donnie (Jennifer) Stricker, sister, Pauline (Amos) Mull, and grandchildren, Shellie Hodge, Audrey Hayman, Ginny Williams, Heather Womble, Shannan Wells, Sam Stricker and Zac Stricker.  She also touched the lives of her six great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery.    Visitation will be Thursday from 3-8PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Friday.  Flowers were one of her favorite things, but would have been very pleased knowing her memory was honored with donations to Maple Manor Christian Home, 643 W.
