Charles J. White, 92, passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Autumn Woods Nursing Home in New Albany, Indiana. Charlie was a 1944 graduate of Silver Creek High School, and, immediately following his graduation, was drafted into the military at the age of 17, during WWII. He served in the Navy for 12 years. Charlie was a retired Civil Service Systems Administrator for the Department of Defense, and, a retired officer from the Farm Credit Bank. Charlie was an active member in the Democratic Party in Southern Indiana. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 204, Sellersburg, Indiana, National Active and retired Federal Employee Chapter 0381, Jeffersonville, Indiana. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Carter White and Alberta Adams McCartin, by his son Col. Donald White and by his grandchildren, Brandon Skaggs and Faith Mills. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy, who cared for him lovingly until his death, his daughters, Susan (John) Hood, Charlene Feeter, Sharon Kirkpatrick, Rebecca Mills, and Beth Skaggs; his sons, Jay (Tammi) White, Ronald Mills, Scott (Denise) Mills; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, his sisters, Pat Pearson, Mary Lou (Don) Travis and Ann Friess, and his brothers, Bob (Rita) McCartin, Charles N. (Patsy) White and John (Marilyn) White. Funeral services will be held 10AM Friday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-8PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Friday.
