Charles Raymond Spitznagel

Charles Raymond Spitznagel, 80, entered eternal life on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital.  He served his country in the United States Airforce and retired from CSX Railroad.  Charlie was a 1956 graduate of Silver Creek High School.  He was a former Union Township Trustee and Clark County Commissioner.  He was also a member of the Sellersburg American Legion Post 204 and the Sellersburg Moose Lodge.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Gladys Lincoln Spitznagel.  Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Smethers Spitznagel, Memphis, daughters, Debi (Michael) Wycoff, Memphis,  Brenda Bridges, Memphis, sisters, Connie (Russell) Scholl, Memphis, Phyllis Dimler, New Albany, grandchildren , Lindsay Draper, Jared Wycoff, Blake Bridges and three great-grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held 12Noon Monday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Bowery Cemetery in Memphis.  Visitation will be Sunday from 12-8PM and anytime after 10AM until the time of service on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Legion Post 204 Color Guard, 412 New Albany Ave., Sellersburg, IN 47172.  Online condolences can be made at www.garrfuneralservices.com.
