Richard "Red" R. Cissell, age 84 of New Albany, Indiana passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 19, 2024. Red was born on January 19, 1940 to the late George and Minnie Trosper Cissell in Louisville, Kentucky.
He honorably began his service to the United States Army in 1957. He got his first job at Scotts Seed Company in New Albany. He worked at Dean Tire and Rubber Company and retired at the early age of 45 as Executive Vice President. Then he purchased a farm aka “Red's Farm” where he enjoyed the rest of his days.
In 1955, Red met Rosie the love of his life in Sellersburg at the movie theater. They married August 12, 1957 and had 2 children, William R. Cissell and Pamela A Cissell.
Red is survived by his children Randy Cissell and Pam Brennan (Jerry), his grandchildren Joshua Cissell, Lauren Davis (Greyson), Camelia Brennan (Andrew), Jordan Cissell, by his loving sister, Betty "Doodie" Bilbrey, his brother, Herman "Buster" Cissell and his great-grandchildren Audriana Schnieder, Michael Cissell, Jack Felton Davis, Brennan Marie Davis and Gil Eugene Grathwohl.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Garr Funeral Home (7806 Highway 311, Sellersburg, Indiana 47172) with interment to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery (2421 Hamburg Pike, Jeffersonville 47130) where Rosie is anxiously waiting. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home with family time starting at 9:00 A.M.
Following the graveside service the family invites friends and family to join them back at Garr Funeral home for lunch and visiting. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude https:// www.stjude.org/give.html
