Elizabeth "Bettye" A. (Pruden) Pendygraft

Elizabeth “Bettye” A. Pendygraft, 84, gracefully transitioned into eternal life on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born on October 26, 1939, to James and Stella Pruden in Stanley, Kentucky, Bette leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.

A devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Sellersburg, Bettye found joy singing in the choir and in the fellowship of her church community. Her enduring friendships were exemplified by her dedication to her Bunco group, a cherished bond she nurtured for over 50 years.

Bettye’s professional life was marked by compassion and service as a registered nurse. She dedicated herself to caring for others, specializing in long-term care, and culminating her career at Clark Memorial Hospital.

Beyond her vocation, Bettye found solace and creativity in sewing, knitting, and quilting, infusing her creations with warmth and beauty. Her penchant for discovering treasures on QVC brought her delight, as did her interactions with loved ones on Facebook, where she shared memories and connected with friends and family near and far. Bettye was preceded in death by her loving husband of 22 years, Gary Pendygraft and by her 7 siblings.

Survivors include her son, Scott Pendygraft (Diane) of Morningview, Kentucky, Daughters, Susan Reid of Clarksville, Indiana, Lynne Choate of Shepherdsville, Kentucky and her grandchildren, Kyle Pendygraft, Ben Pendygraft, Josh Baldwin (Heather), Nick Baldwin (Nikki), Kailee Pendygraft, Emilee Isenberg (Brady), Megan Deaton (Shelby), Thomas Choate and Casey Choate. Bettye also leaves 10 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 22, 2024 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday and on Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
