Elmer Louis Kahl, 88, passed away on April 27, 2019. He was born on January 10, 1931 in Sellersburg, Indiana, son of Charles Hobson and Freda Kahl. He was a graduate of Indiana University and a Korean War veteran. He taught school at Charlestown, Indiana, farmed and raised beef cattle. His civic involvement included serving on boards for 4-H and Soil and Water. He was a member of Quail Unlimited, NRA and a lifelong Methodist. He also owned Arrow Head Hunt Club & Shooting Preserve in Tennessee from 1984 until retirement. Upon retirement in 2011 he moved back to Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, son Hobson (Kathlynn) Kahl, daughter, Kimberly Kahl, granddaughter Cynthia (Stephen) Hunter, great-grandsons Aaron & Zackery Hunter, step-children Clay Seum, Carey Clemens, Julie Seum, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His passion for hunting, fishing, cattle and all of nature led to a desire to share his knowledge with others. Elmer could usually be seen with a dog box on his truck, a whistle around his neck, a story to tell, a smile on his face and always searching for a new adventure. He was loved and will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held 2PM Thursday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 12Noon until the time of service.
