Carson W. Fischer, Jr., 75, passed away during the afternoon hours of Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Mr. Fischer was born on February 12, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Carson, Sr. and Thelma Fischer. He retired from International Harvester where he worked as a hoist operator in the foundry.  Mr. Fischer served the Sellersburg community on the Sellersburg Fire Department from 1973 to 1989. He served as fire Chief from 1981 until 1989. He was a state fire instructor for nine years and was instrumental in founding the Sellersburg Fire District. Mr. Fischer took great pride in working the road blocks, collecting proceeds for the WHAS Crusade for Children. Mr. Fischer was a member of the St. Johns Presbyterian Church in New Albany.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Fischer.

 

Survivors include his loving wife Eldora Fischer of Scottsburg, his daughters, Beth Ann (Boyce) Adams of New Albany, Cara Sue (Gary) Shaffer of Hanover, Indiana, Dawn Marie (David) Cagle of Scottsburg, his brother, Louis (Birgett) Fischer of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and his sister, Janice (Russell) Bush of Little York, Indiana. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kimberly Smith, Kevin Adams, Molly Shaffer,  Brandon Cagle, Jacob Shaffer, Kaitlynn Adams, Jenna Cagle, Kaleb Adams and his two great grandchildren, Rebecca smith and Nick Smith.                  

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment to follow at Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions can be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children (520 West Chestnut Street, Louisville, Kentucky 40202) online condolences can be made at www.garrfuneralservices.com.
